Some Background. . .

A fan of the long-running ElfQuest saga in the comic book world, Andy Mangels jumped at the chance to become a part of "Team ElfQuest" in 1993, following meetings with Richard and Wendy Pini at the San Diego Comic-Con the previous two years. After a short ElfQuest story was written by Mangels for an ElfQuest Summer Special (illustrated by Brandon McKinney), Mangels took over the writing reigns of the new Blood of Ten Chiefs with issues #2-7.

Mangels worked on the following stories for Blood of Ten Chiefs:
"Phantom of the Berry Patch" (adapted from a story by Mercedes Lackey and Richard Pini, art by Brandon McKinney and Charles Barnett);
"Swift-Spear" and "Two Spear" (adapted from a story by Mark C. Perry and C.J. Cherryh, art by Paul Bonanno and Barb Kaalberg);
"Talon" (adapted from a story by Allen L. Wold, art by Ken Hooper and Craig Taillefer);
"Tale of the SnowBeast" (adapted from a story by Janny Wurts, art by Steve Blevins);
"At The Oak's Root" (adapted with Terry Collins from a story by Nancy Springer, art by Steve Blevins and Craig Taillefer);
All stories were edited by Richard Pini.
