ANDY MANGELS appeared at the Museum of Glass exhibit "My Reality: Contemporary Art and the Culture of Japanese Animation" delivering a lecture and visual presentation called The Best of Anime in America: A History and Visual Tour. This was in Tacoma, WA on July 27, 2003
Best-selling author and media historian Andy Mangels (Animation on DVD: The Ultimate Guide) will be presenting a lecture and visual presentation on the state of anime (Japanese animation) in America today. Included in his presentation — The Best of Anime in America: A History and Visual Tour — will be a history of the field, as well as examples and visually dazzling scenes from various animated films and series that have been released in America, including the works of the Academy Award-winning Hayao Miyazaki and many others. The coverage will be perfect for newcomers to anime, as well as longtime fans. The lecture will be free with museum admission, and participants will be able to view the exhibit before and after the lecture. A book signing for Mr. Mangels will follow with copies of his book Animation on DVD: The Ultimate Guide, and promotional materials from anime companies will be available.
