ANDY & FREDDY

When Andy Mangels was working on the script adaptation for Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare, he toured the set of the film and got to spend some quality time with Robert Englund, in his Freddy makeup! Englund didn't have his fake Freddy teeth in though, so he wouldn't smile!

Englund and Mangels posed for a series of promotional photos on the set, including on the stariway of the Elm Street house, in the crew chair, in the boiler room, and in the set that functioned as Freddy's brain in the 3-D sequences!

• A funny note: Most of the crew had never seen a nipple ring before, so when the photos of Freddy tearing Andy's shirt were taken, much discussion of the nipple ring took place!

• Andy's interview with Englund was published in both Amazing Heroes and Fantazia magazines.

FREDDY'S FUNERAL

When Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare was released, New Line Cinema held a mock funeral at a Hollywood cemetary. Andy Mangels was flown down to present the eulogy at the funeral!

• For the somber occasion, Andy wore a black shirt with white suitcoat, and a custom-made red-and-green striped bowtie in memory of Freddy! After the eulogy, Mangels read messages from Alice Cooper and Lisa Zane (Dr. Maggie Burroughs)!

• Many stars of the Freddy films attended the funeral and posed with Andy and the comic near Freddy's casket. These include Rachel Talalay (director and story), Tobe Sexton (Young Freddy), Lezlie Deane (Tracy), Ricky Dean Logan (Carlos), Breckin Meyer (Spencer), and Lisa Wilcox (Alice).

• Andy was filmed by E! News discussing the funeral and the Freddy's Dead comic. The segment appeared many times in the months of September and October 1991. He also appeared on NBC news
.

SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 1991

Andy also appeared as a special guest at another California convention in Fall 1991, alongside Lisa Zane, one of the stars of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare.
